Hi, I'm Pete from Tanzania and am restoring a TEA 20 that has been out of use for a few decades? either 1949 or 1951 (The diff housing casting number is 304 1 - Suggests 30th April 1951 and looks correct as same month as Engine casting number (164 1 = 16th April 1951). However the engine number stamped on the block (S112089E), according to a number of references, points to 1949 production.

Welcome to the forum.

Are you missing the serial number plate by the steering wheel? If it said TEA 112089, it would be a 1949 tractor. But, the engine number S112089E is consistent with your casting date of April 1951. Your tarcor was likely born 3-6 weeks later.

G'day Pete and welcome to the forum.
I had a great uncle who spent many years working in the missions in remote areas of Tanzania. He would have loved the use of a little Grey Fergie, basically everything was done by manual labour. His only vehicle was a Hilux that did everything from the mail run and beyond. Both he and it survived a couple of roll overs in the desert.
Cheers, WW.
