Seat Belts

Hi Mikey,
Had another look at the switch. Single speed.
Another question, re Seat belts. Does the 77 Series 3, has hard top fitted, but Plated as soft top, have retractable seatbelts, or only the lap belts, which are fitted to Gilbert.
If retractable belts are fitted, where do they attach ????
Saw a 77 series 3 "Game" at Murwillumbah show yesterday.
It had non standard Bucket type seats fitted. Gilbert has these type of seats fitted, which may have been in it when he was Registered in 2005.

Where is it plated as soft top? Curious - mine doesnt have any plates on it apart from the serial no.
Not sure about seatbelts, but can only assume it was just lap belts. Mines a '75 and had lap belts.
I did fit inertia belts though - position-wise, used what was already there, with only 1 bracket made. Not sure if Series ever had inertia belts - the Defenders have them, but they have a nice spot to mount the reel, owing to the longer bulkhead.

I mounted mine on a bracket 1/3 of the way in the tub bulkhead (where my cab mount brackets are - i think you'll just have a couple of tapped holes there) Image
Bad photo quality, but you can get the idea.

The plugs are bolted down with the bolts that go from the tub to the chassis (on the inside of the seats), via little 'L' shaped brackets underneath. The belt bottom mounts are down in the corner of the door - on the bracket that joins the doorsill to the tub.

Hope this is of use.

Mikey.
Cheers,
Mikey

My ex military had those as well , supposed to be for the old lap-sash belts , forerunners of the inertia reel belts . They were called '' Shoulder breakers '' by grunts and were almost never used .
Have to hunt up some prints of that old beast and scan and post them . I christened it the '' Pig Truck ''
